Ash Wednesday Traditions

A popular tradition on Ash Wednesday is for members of the congregation to have a cross drawn on their foreheads out of ash.

Ash Wednesday, as the first day of Lent, is the day that Christians begin to give up their chosen item for Lent. Traditionally, Christians should also not consume meat on this day. Traditionally, it's a day of fasting and abstinence.
