π¨Weβre bonkers for conkers! π
This week, the children in Year 1 and 2 have been busy exploring conkers in lots of exciting ways. What started as a simple autumn find quickly became the inspiration for maths, art, storytelling, and imaginative play. In Numeracy, the children enjoyed counting conkers, making sets, and using them to tell the story of 5. They even spotted patterns and worked together to solve number problems with their collections. Outdoors, the conkers found their way into the mud kitchen, where they became ingredients for all sorts of imaginative recipes. Some children also had a go at peeling conkers to see what was inside, while others arranged them carefully into beautiful mandalas, noticing colours, shapes, and patterns. Art was another highlight! The children created wonderful rolling conker paintings, dipping conkers in paint and letting them roll across the paper to make colourful, abstract designs – we called this activity “Bonkers for Conkers!” π¨π° Through these activities, the children have been combining creativity, problem-solving, and curiosity, all sparked by a simple natural treasure. What a fun way to celebrate autumn learning Year 1 and 2! Well done! π
